Got mine a couple of days ago; the goal for me being able to generate some .wav files from my bass guitar. I've never had my own recording kit before, analog or otherwise, so searched the internet extensively and decided on this because the cheaper options all seemed to involve some degree of lag processing the analog to digital, whereas this does not.

The unit itself is pretty small and light. Driver installation was striaghtforward. I was not forced to have to install the Line 6 Monkey product (it's basically a driver/app monitor which will prompt you to ugrade when newer versions appear).

I got the Podworks amp stuff working straight away, but I couldn't get Riffworks to record; or more accurately, play anything back that wasn't silent through the laptop's soundcard. I suspect this was me. I got the bundled version of Abelton 7 Lite to work last night after a couple of hours. The help for all these is online, hit the pdfs. I'm still not sure I've taken the optimal path to getting the .wav exported, or where to turn off the auto looping, but I've achieved the goal I set out.

As for noise/hum as cited in another review here, mine has none. I'm stood right in front of it to record too. It's an 3-year old IBM laptop, not high-spec, crummy on-board sound & graphics. No lag either, with default settings. Compressor emulator is perfect, just like real hardware. I'm happy.

This does everything you expect and is easy to set up.
It removed the latency problem I was having, which is all I bought it for, but it has a few nice extras.
It comes with loads of virtual effects pedals and amps to play with and a nice bit of recording software which, if not great, is certainly fun.
The headphone socket makes it easy to play without annoying people, or, better still, send the noise out to an external device of your choosing. I've been toying with it through a Kaoss pad and into a proper four-track recorder.
The catch, for me, has been the add ons. There are a few upgrades to the supplied software you can purchase, most notably, the extra amps and effects. So far I've spent an extra fifty quid on them. And I want more. Take a look at their website to get an idea of what I mean: []

This is a great little device that comes with good amp simulation software. My only gripe is it doesn't provide a great deal of gain if recording the dry input into your daw. Otherwise it works fine with no noise, latency or any other problem. I really like the Pod Farm software which has hundreds of preset amp sounds that you can then tweak ad infinitum. Great fun. The other software that comes free is a free anyway version of Riffworks which you may love but I feel is a bit of a waste of time and a free cut down Ableton daw that I haven't installed as the GX works fine with my Cubase. Highly recommended and only lost a star due to gain problem which really isn't a problem anyway as with the amp simulations you have loads of signal to play with.

Have had the guitar for almost a month now. For the money you pay, workmanship is very good (as usual for Yamaha), no additional set-up was required with the action quite comfortable for me.

Initially it had difficulty staying in tune and the sound was less than impressive, but this was due to the stock strings. No, I have not replaced them yet as after 3-4 days of tuning before playing, they stretched quite nicely and the guitar has been in tune for more than a week now (and played almost daily - several songs).

Sound markedly improved as well - it was very tin-like out of the box, it has deepened some. It will probably further improve once I get to replacing the strings.

Talking of sound - do not expect to get what you are getting out of your full-size instrument. Obviously the smaller body will produce a different result, but for the money and the flexibility to easily fit in your trunk, overhead compartment on the plane or anywhere else where space is limited (or just grab by the neck and bring it along when going for a picnic), it is great value.

I am tall (188cm) and it is more difficult to move along the neck (the distance between both hends is much smaller than with full-size) when you need Eb on 6th fret for example, but it is not impossible. Still very playable once you get used to it.

I cannot compare to other 3/4 sizes as I have never owned or played one. If you are looking for a guitar to take on stage - you will likely not be happy with the sound performance, but if you only need it for the occasional travel with friends or would like to strum several chords before going to bed - it is perfect.

Oh yeah - gig bag is also pretty good for the price you pay. :)

I bought this for my nephew's 15th Birthday after I gave him the option of money or a gift. He wanted a gift as it was more of a surprise - question I had to ask myself was what to buy a 15-year-old boy. Knowing he liked playing guitar I thought of a distortion pedal. This one is ideal as works of a battery or power supply, also it allows you to plug in an amp and mixer. My nephew was thrilled, however I cannot say his mum was as pleased.

I've been looking forward to using this & when i finally got it, i was not disappointed by the equipment. distorts the sound into a nice grunge sound, which i love using to play Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy. That song is a perfect example of the sound u will get out of this.

my only problem with it is that it eats batteries like a badman. i wasn't expecting to receive a 9V battery already inside, but there was.

however, after using it only once, then next time i tried it, it didn't work. originally i thought it was broken, i changed the battery & it was fine, and again used it once, came back a few days later to a flat battery. turns out if u dont unplug all all cables from it when your not using it, it'll still use battery power, even if the amp is switched off & isn't being used.

so basicly: brilliant sound for a fantastic price, but you'll need to order an AC power adaptor if u dont want to keep buying batteries.

when i opened the box i was amazed at the guitar it looked great and when i plugged it in it sounded great but on the back of the neck there was a crack on hte neck splice it wasnt the actuall wood it was the laccur or gloss which was cracked/scratched which shown that it had been dropped by one of the workers at the shop so now i have to take the guitar to a french polishers to be repaired even though it wasnt me who ruined the beautiful instrument
